Tour the depot museum to explore local history with railroad displays, a telephone switchboard, and kids' activities.
The Railroad Ran Through and created the Town of Allen exhibit displays information about the Houston and Texas Central RR, probably the most important line ever constructed in Texas. Information about all aspects of the building of the dam on Cottonwood Creek and associated buildings for the Allen Water Station is displayed. Hear the sounds of the steam locomotives and see a typical station agent's office. View information about the train depot which served the passenger and freight needs of Allen for many years.
See how the town of Allen was created from the original James Read survey. The exhibit covers the years from 1876-1899 with displays of businesses, churches, schools, cemetery, post office and social organizations. Much newly found information is shown including maps, charts, census and deed pages, photos and objects.More Information
