Eat well on the go in Collin County for Foodies

It seems there is always a new diet fad or way of eating: Paleo, Keto, Whole 30, High-Protein, Vegetarian, Vegan, Low Carb, Gluten Free, Anti-inflammatory, non-GMO, organic--or simply balanced. How are the restaurants, grocers, prepared meal kitchens supposed to keep up? Or do you just "give up" when dining out at your favorite restaurant?

While the list of restaurants that offer healthy options is endless, this page is reserved for those restaurants with the primary business model to focus on providing a healthy menu contributing to your overall wellness. This will include using whole ingredients (organic, when possible), primarily locally sourced, farm-to-table.

Their Facebook page states that their mission is "making healthy eating convenient and affordable." We liked that most entree options are vegetable based with a choice of protein, and you could get them in a wrap, burrito, bowl, soup or salad. Healthified kid-friendly food is on the menu such as a cheesy chicken quesadilla. Also offered are sweet energy bites made of peanut butter, honey, oats, coconut, chocolate chips and frozen kefir. The food here is always delicious and reasonably priced for the quality. Fast casual.

Restaurants Serving Healthy Plates We Loved; Now Closed

Lyfe Kitchen, Plano
This menu was based on balance using high-quality ingredients such as grass-fed beef and real maple syrup.

Start Restaurant, Frisco
It seems this great quick-service restaurant closed as quickly as it opened. Their website read, "handmade healthy, drive-thru fast." So why didn't it stick around? We had tried breakfast and lunch and thought it was pretty good, the prices were on the higher side (for the quality). Perhaps it was the out-of-the-way location?

Wholesome Grub
We had very much enjoyed the grilled chicken sandwich, fish tacos, and side of roasted potatoes we tried. As several Yelp posters stated, the food was nutritious and filling. Perhaps the slightly higher prices were to blame for their demise?
